Lexington Medical Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for fall 2025. This follows an “A” hospital safety grade from the same organization for spring 2025.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“Lexington Medical Center is constantly striving to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients,” said Tod Augsburger, president and CEO. “Hospital safety is a top priority, and I’m glad that our doctors, nurses and staff can be recognized for their efforts as we work to meet the health care needs of our friends, families and neighbors in the Midlands.”

“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Lexington Medical Center made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
